About
The firm was founded in 1998 as Charvill Townshend by Philip Townshend in partnership with Colin Charvill and operated from an office in Hay Lane, Coventry. When Colin Charvill retired from the practice in 2003, the firm continued as Townshends.
In 2004 the firm’s offices in Hay Lane became too small for an expanding practice and the firm moved to 10 Park Road, Coventry. At this time Gary Glover joined the practice as a partner.
In 2004 Townshends acquired a second office in the east of Coventry which was the long established practice of McAtamneys at Brays Lane, Coventry.
In November 2007 there was further expansion when Jayne Willetts and her 5 strong Professional Regulation Team joined the firm from Hammonds Birmingham office. A brand new office in Birmingham was opened in Cornwall House, near St. Paul’s Square to specialise in professional regulation work.
Townshends also became a limited liability partnership, Townshends LLP in 2007.
In 2008 Townshends acquired J V Vobe & Co in Coleshill, a practice that has been in existence for over 80 years.
After rapid expansion Townshends still retains its distinctive “family” atmosphere and a well-integrated, dedicated hard working staff. The firm is now set fair for the future.
